Creating customised "Gems" allows you to further enhance your experience with Gemini as Gems can help speed up your workflow by minimising the need for repetitive prompting. For example, there are pre-made Gems available, including a Writing editor, Coding partner, and Learning coach which you can then fully customize to your own specific requirements.

Increased efficiency and reduced repetition: By creating or using pre-made Gems, you can minimize repetitive prompting, thus streamlining their workflow and saving time. This means that instead of typing out the same instructions every time you interact with Gemini, you can use a Gem to perform those actions with a single click or command.
How to use
Open the Google Gemini Standalone App by going to gemini.google.com.
Look for the Gems Manager feature at the bottom left of the Gemini interface.
Choose a Gem: Select a pre-made Gem, like the Writing editor, Coding partner, or Learning coach1.
Alternatively, if you want to create a Gem tailored to your specific needs, click Create the + New Gem button.
Add a name for your Gem and provide the instructions that will be the context used by the Gem. You can also add or upload up to 10 files that will be referenced by the Gem (can be Google Docs, Sheets and Slides).
You can preview your Gem and also ask Gemini to rewrite your instructions.
Once happy with the Gem, click Save.
Once you have selected or built your Gem, use it to enhance your interactions with Gemini. The specifics of how to use a Gem will depend on its function and purpose
