Summarise conversations

Google Chat provides summaries of conversations in spaces and direct messages, helping you quickly catch up on missed discussions. It can automatically generate summaries for busy spaces or provide them on demand for specific threads.

This feature is available to users on Workspace Business Standard and above, as well as Enterprise and Education editions. It is also included for organisations with a Gemini add-on.

To see a summary, hover over a conversation in the Home view and click the Summarise button. In spaces with many unread messages, a summary appears automatically at the top of the conversation.
