Vault (eDiscovery)

Google Vault is an information governance and eDiscovery tool for retaining, holding, searching, and exporting user data from Google Workspace. It helps organisations manage data for legal and compliance requirements by preserving Gmail messages, Drive files, and Chat conversations even after users delete them.

This feature is included with Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus editions, as well as all Education tiers. It is designed for legal, compliance, and IT teams who must manage data retention and respond to discovery requests.

Access the tool by signing in to the Vault website and creating a matter to group your investigation. From there, you can set retention rules, place holds on accounts to prevent data deletion, or run searches to find and export relevant information.
