Data residency

Data residency allows organisations to control where their data is stored at rest and processed. For Google Workspace, this involves setting data region policies for specific apps and users, while Gemini Enterprise provides specific commitments for generative AI data and machine learning processing.

These controls are available across most Business and Enterprise editions of Workspace, with more granular options for Enterprise users. Gemini Enterprise Standard and Plus add-ons extend these residency commitments to AI prompts and responses, ensuring compliance with regional data requirements.

Admins can manage these settings in the Admin console by navigating to the data regions section. From here, you can choose a geographic location for your organisation's data and apply the policy to specific organisational units or groups.
