Email summaries (side panel)

Gemini in Gmail provides a side panel that can summarise long email threads, extracting key points and action items into a concise overview. It helps you quickly catch up on conversations without reading every individual message.

This feature is available to users with a Gemini for Google Workspace add-on or those on specific Business and Enterprise editions. It is designed for anyone who manages high volumes of email and needs to identify priorities quickly.

To use it, open Gmail on your computer and click the Ask Gemini icon in the top right corner. Choose a summary prompt from the list or type your own request into the side panel to generate the overview.
