Speech translation (real-time)

Google Meet can automatically translate spoken language into another language in real-time, using a synthetic voice that sounds like the original speaker. This allows participants to communicate across language barriers without relying solely on text-based captions.

The feature is available to users with Gemini add-ons or those on Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise, and Frontline Plus editions. It is currently a beta feature and supports translation between English and several other languages including French, German, and Spanish.

To start, click the meeting tools icon in the bottom right corner and select Speech translation. Choose the language combination for the meeting and click Enable translation for everyone. Participants then select the language they speak and the language they wish to hear.
