Require explicit consent for Meet features

Administrators can require meeting participants to provide explicit consent before recording, transcription, or Gemini-powered note-taking begins. This ensures all attendees are aware of data collection and must actively agree to proceed, helping organisations meet privacy and compliance requirements.

The feature is available for Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Frontline Plus editions. It also extends to Education customers with the Google AI Pro add-on, providing granular control over which features require participant agreement.

Open the Google Admin console and navigate to Apps, then Google Workspace, and select Google Meet. From the Meet safety settings, administrators can enable the requirement for explicit consent at the domain, organisational unit, or group level.
